As of now I have traveled to 25 out of the 50 states. I typically like to stay outside of big cities to find the local hidden gems and avoid the crowds. Here is a list of my favorite towns I have encountered along the way on the East Coast.
1. Black Mountain, NC
This is a destination I found myself repeating. Black Mountain is perfectly nestled outside of the bustle of Asheville making the regional airport close and accessible, and at the base of the mountains making hiking all too convenient and the views astounding in the Fall. I can’t speak highly enough of the Trailhead restaurant in town. From the atmosphere to great prices it just feels like a special place. Black Mountain fills your cup of mountain love while giving a Gilmore Girls calm aesthetic.
2. Woodstock, Vermont
Woodstock creates a Noah Kahan dream in a summer beat with lush greenery. Woodstock has beautiful mountain views it pairs with its cozy cottage aesthetic. Seen from the iconic bridge and layout of towns. Close by you can find the Quechee Gorge, alpacas, antiques, and just about anything else your retreat needs.
3. Bar Harbor, ME
Probably one of the most magical places I have seen. Bar Harbor is the type of place you house a magical moment from. Of course being situated next to Acadia makes its own unreal landscape. Beyond that though, the town is just incredibly charming. There is an electric feeling in Bar Harbor in the summer. It is all too colonially cozy. Bar Harbor in the summer just feels like a New England dream.
